Drawbacks of Compact PC Build

You must be aware of the benefits of a compact PC build but have you ever thought about its drawbacks? Of course, everything has its own pros and cons.

There are quite a few drawbacks to the small pc builds. Since the casing is small in size, you are left with less space to work with.

You will be forced to use smaller hardware like motherboards, coolers, case fans, GPU, and PSU. As simple as it sounds, small components result in limited system performance. Moreover, future upgrades are also limited due to size issues. In some cases, managing the cables can also get challenging due to the smaller case size.

But, the most important drawback of the compact PC build is the overclocking. You cannot overclock your hardware in a small build, in most cases. Why? Because of the limited cooling configurations and smaller heatsinks.

It might get a little tough to get a normal temperature in some builds, even without overclocking.

What Does ATX Mean In Computers?

A lot of pc gamers must know or hear the word ATX while buying pc cases or motherboards. But if you are not clear with the word ATX, we will help you understand what ATX is and what ATX stands for.

ATX stands for Advanced Technology EXtended. It is a form factor by intel. Most of the gaming cases in the market use a form factor specification for fitting a motherboard. ATX is one of them.

This form factory mostly fits in only full-size and mid-size pc cases. This form factor indicates a number of expansion slots, ram slots, and I/O support.

Here in this article, we listed only ATX cases that can easily fit full standard ATX boards.

What Is The Smallest Size In Pc Cases Which Fits ATX Motherboard?

The smallest PC case size is Mini-ITX which looks different from standard full-tower PC cases available on the market. Another thing to notice is that mini-ITX is even smaller than a Micro-ATX case. In short, mini-ITX is the smallest size for PC cases with 6.7 inches of length and 6.7 inches of width.

Moreover, you will get easy access to the insides of your pc. Compatible and support standard ATX boards, micro-ATX boards, and mini ITX.

The major concern of a computer designer is the cooling tendency of the motherboard. The heating up of the motherboard is a common problem faced by people. This issue majorly occurs while running heavy-duty software or playing games.

But luckily, with Cooler Master HAF XB EVO you can get rid of this issue. The HAF XB EVO provides cooling support at the top, front and rear sections of the ATX case. Besides this, it has two liquid cooling support front and rear.

This beast PC case includes two extra handles for moving around your rig to anywhere in the room. Also, with powerful case fans, you can cool down your CPU. Inside the PC case, you can add up to four SSD/HDD, a full-sized motherboard, with extra room for modding.

The limitations of this model come while upgrading the model. As everything is well-packed and adjusted thus it lacks the chance to upgrade.

The best thing about stock fans is that they are perfect for any build. You don’t need to buy any other fans, but with time it may become a little noisy. At that point, you might have to replace it. Otherwise, the pc case is perfect for the build.

Should You Buy It?

A simple answer is Yes. The Cooler Master HAF XB EVO provides easy assembly with premium features. You will get a removable motherboard tray, top panel, and side panels. The airflow configuration works great. It is said to be the most compact ATX case.

User Experience:

Some Amazon reviewers report about the graphic card height. Users have complained that the GPU does not fit very well when installing a full 240mm AI CPU cooler. You might have to relocate the radiator or a smaller card to install lengthy graphic cards.

The fan holes didn’t line up for most of the aftermarket 200mm fans. You can only install with 2 screws, but only the Cooler Master 200mm fits well with all four screw holes in the lineup.

Another main issue is accessing the hard drives and the PSU. For this purpose, you have to unhook everything on the motherboard, which is pretty annoying.

The hard drive plastic locking latches are pretty cheap plastic and didn’t stand for long.

While on the bright side:

Amazon reviewers are satisfied with the beginner-friendly installation process. It is super easy to work with this case. The removable motherboard tray makes installation easier.

Good ventilation and airflow help in maintaining temperature. Moreover, it comes with a lot of space and a lot of space for cable management.

2 – Lian Li PC-O11D Mini Case – Best In 2022

Premium looking case for Excellent Build

Lian Li PC-O11D small Case

Lian Li PC-O11D Mini has taken the design elements from the original 011 dynamics. Later on, it was made 20% smaller in volume but still kept a decent chunk of epic radiator size compatibility.

The physical volume isn’t actually that small at all; in fact, it’s slightly larger than an Nzxt h510 elite. Yet, it can fit significantly more hardware inside. This makes the Lian Li PC-O11D mini interesting and smaller in 2022.

When it comes to design, the steel aluminum, and tempered glass aesthetic work well. Lian Li has gained a great reputation in the market for its premium aluminum PC case series. This model is the best out there. In short, it fulfills the market standards for quality control, performance, and functionality.

O11 dynamic mini is separated into two main compartments. The primary system components and cooling are located in the main chamber. These two combine together to work efficiently.

Lian Li O11 dynamic mini Pc Comes in a Bigger size case too, which supports a lot more than the mini dynamic version.

Messy wires ATX cases bring visual discomfort. However, this is not the case with the Lian Li PC-O11D Mini Case. The cablings and visually-less beneficial components (Drives, etc) hide behind the motherboard tree.

The power supply is worth mentioning here that only supports SFX and SFX-l power supplies.

The 011 mini has a modular motherboard and expansion slot panels. This helps you to switch between full ATX, Micro ATX, and ITX boards.

The O11 mini case is both a space-optimized ATX mid-tower and a generously sized ITX case. Plus, it comes with absolutely huge radiator size clearances supported.

You can install up to 360mm Radiator on top, bottom, and at the side depending on what motherboard size you put in.

Should You Buy It?

If the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO is not good enough for you, then LIAN Li PC-O11D is excellent for you. Moreover, it provides more premium looks and effective build opportunities.

User Experience

The Lian LI PC-O11D is a beautiful case to build a small setup. The ease of use, in this case, is the main selling point here. Apart from durability, it is also easy to remove and assemble. This makes cable management easy.

However, some real-time users reported issues regarding Amazon Seller’s customer services. And, the fact that there are no pre-installed fans, you might need to spend extra money on separate fans.

FYI, it is a small-sized case. If you plan to use a full-sized motherboard, you might end up having limited space for AIO.

  • Dimensions: 272mm x 446mm x 445mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, E-ATX
  • Material: Glass, Steel, Aluminum
  • Fans: 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm (top), 3x 120mm (Sides), 3x 120mm (bottom)

  • Max CPU Cooler Height: 155mm
  • GPU Limit: 420mm
  • PSU Limit: 225mm

3- Corsair Carbide Air 540 – Cube Case Option

Dual-Chamber Compact Design, with Optimal Airflow.

Corsair Carbide Air 540

Corsair is one of the top-rated case manufacturers for external PC components. The company is well-known for its CPU cooler, fans, and more.

Carbide Air 540 is one of the best smallest cases for ATX to meet all your requirements with a good design as well.

The design has all focus on high airflow to keep every component cool and chill. No issues like heating up the motherboard or slow processing speed.

Environmental factors also have a great impact on computer performance. The dust build-up will keep your computer heated, and it makes it hard for internal fans to remove heat. This model incorporates a dust filter that helps a lot in keeping dust away from your CPU components. The dust filters are easy to clean and have magnetic sticks to attach them easily.

Want to buy a gaming laptop instead of a gaming pc? Here Check Out Top 12 best gaming laptops under 500

The PSU and drives sit in the back chamber while the CPU, GPU, motherboard, and memory are on the main chamber.

The built-in cooling fans keep your system cool and your hardware at the best temperature. The fans are a bit noisy, of course, three fans at a time.

One of the best things about Carbide Air 540 is its great wiring management. The rubber grommets help to keep wires aligned in a better way. Cables management was never so easy!

The acrylic transparent side panels help it look better with a high-end GPU and RGB lighting. The material of the side panel is acrylic which is a bit low-quality control.

Should You Buy It?

Corsair Carbide Air 540 is an excellent pick if you want a small-size setup with a dual-chamber design. Moreover, with this case, you can get the maximum hardware support.

It is among my top picks in the Best Cube PC Cases.

User Experience

The Carbide Air 540’s dual-chamber design allows you to fill in your components. And, the cable management is also not an issue here.

The cube design of the case is what makes it lovable. However, there are some issues that we have noticed so far.

Although the case’s build is robust and sturdy, the material on the side panels is a little flimsy. Moreover, the secondary chamber could have been designed more appropriately.

The HDD bays and Optical Drive management needs a little more attention from Corsair.

The major turnoff for this casing is that there are no dust filters provided for the PSU and top panel. Some Amazon reviews state that the power button is a little too sensitive.

That may be because their chassis was faulty. If that is the case, you can always contact your seller and replace your product.

  • Dimensions: 415mm x 332mm x 458mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, E-ATX
  • Material: Steel

  • Weight: 7.4kg
  • Expansion slots: 8
  • Max CPU Cooler Height: 170mm
  • Max GPU Length: 320mm
  • PSU Limit: 250mm

Why We Recommend

  • Great cable management options.
  • Easy to use SSG cage with 3.5” hot-swappable bays.
  • Robust and Sturdy build quality.

4- Fractal Design Meshify C – Allrounder

Simple Casing with Excellent Performance

Fractal Design Meshify C

The Meshify C is a compact computer case offering you a high-end performance. The best part? It has a streamlined airflow design as well.

The unrestricted airflow does not allow devices to heat up. This ultimately increases the performance of your PC.

For a cooling boost in your computer’s case, you’ll get 2 pre-installed fractal design fans. Within this case, there are 7 different positions for fan installation.

Fractal Design Meshify C also comes with an open interior. This further eliminates all chances of components heating and ensures smooth high-speed processing.

This elegant Fractal design Meshify C case comes in black color with black interiors. Its classic design and smart features make it stand out from the rest of the cases and give it a defiant look.

The most prominent feature of Meshify C is its versatile hardware storage. It has plenty of room and can easily store up to 5 storage devices. Its removable drive slots make it feasible to adjust the space as per your needs.

You can even fit your massive GPUs and heavy-duty PSU (Power Supply Unit) in this smart and flexible case. This model can accommodate a high-performance motherboard in a sleek, compact way.

The only problem is when you load this small ATX PC case with a heavy-duty motherboard. The heat is produced between the components which leads to frequent maintenance challenges.

Other features in this case include:

  • Smart cable management
  • Front mesh with dust filters
  • Vibration-dampening rubber grommets cushion

All of these features contribute to making this PC case a unique one.

Should You Buy It?

The Fractal Design Meshify C is a good option if you are looking for:

  • Sturdy Build Quality
  • Excellent Dust Filters
  • Easy Assembly
  • Cable Management

User Experience

Unlike Carbide Air 540, the Fractal Design Meshify C has done a great job in the dust filter section of the chassis. Moreover, the sturdy build and unique design are what hooks the enthusiasts.

Apart from that, cable management is also easy, thanks to its easy-to-assemble build.

However, when there are good things, bad things follow as well. Some reviews state that installing a radiator on the front makes it difficult to fit your long GPU.

Furthermore, you will need to remove the 3.5” drive cage to install the radiator. Therefore, you are only left with intake fans.

Also, the side panels catch the fingerprints quite often, ordering you to clean your setup.

However, you can always avail of the warranty if you are not satisfied with the casing.

  • Dimensions: 395mm x 212mm x 440mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX,
  • Material: Steel
  • Fans: 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm (front), 2x 140/ 120mm (top), 1x 120mm (bottom & rear)
  • Weight: 6.16kg
  • Expansion slots: 7
  • CPU Cooler Limit: 170mm
  • Max GPU Length: 315mm
  • PSU Limit: 175mm

Why We Recommend

  • Can Support Up to 3 Fans
  • Radiator Support On Top
  • Fan AIr Filters
  • Good Performance

Why We Don’t

  • Don’t Support 10.6 Inch Deep Motherboards
  • 3x Fans Radiator Requires Removal Of 3.5” drive slots

5- Riotoro CR1080 – Mini Gaming Case

3 GPU support with AIO water-cooling ready

Riotoro CR1080 Mini pc case

The Riotoro CR1080 is one of the small ATX cases offered by RIOTOTO. It is one of the small ATX cases offered by RIOTORO. As compared to standard-sized casings, this one is relatively small.

Starting with the build quality, the Riotoro case is made of Alloy Steel material. So, you can expect a great deal of durability from it. The size of this chassis is 15.75” x 14.1” x 9” concerning LxWxH. So, it can be said the small mid-tower case.

The total weight is 8lbs, so it is easy to pick and move around. But, this can be a bit troublesome for you!.

With its tiny footprint, it is an ideal ATX case for a living-room PC that can easily adjust in a shelf or A/V cabinet.

However, I do like to point out that the glossy look on the surface is a bit turnoff. The best part? You can switch your ATX standard hardware from an oversized casing to the Riotoro CR1080.

The casing provides transparent side panels to make your setup look good. These are acrylic glass panels, so you need to be careful with them. A slight bulge on the side panel window offers more space for taller GPUs and other components.

This case features a dual-compartment design, just like cube cases for more space. You see, with this case you can install all your parts and maintain cable management easily.

This casing has seven expansion slots at the rear so that a multi-GPU setup can be an option here. You can install up to three graphics cards of 300mm in length.

Besides, this case supports a single 240mm fan to maintain an effective exhaust setup. The front panel supports two 120mm fans that can be used for the intake.

You can also install a singular 80mm fan at the rear too. The best thing is that the casing includes a single 120mm LED fan, making it a little cost-efficient.

You can also make an AIO water cooling setup with support of up to 120/ 140mm rear and 360mm on top or front.

Upon using this case myself, I found it to be tight on both the motherboard tray and components. However, it is acceptable since we are going with small ATX builds.

Should You Buy It?

This casing is a bit tight on the motherboard tray and components. However, it still allows you to install up to three GPUs. The compact case comes with dust filters, a 120mm LED fan, and acrylic glass panels as well. All of this at a budget-friendly cost. So, it is definitely a good pick for a gaming pc.

User Experience

The Riotoro CR1080 features a solid design with multiple expansion slots as well. The cable management and dust filters make it a beast in price to performance ratio.

However, my only concern with this chassis is the thin aluminum material. It feels a little cheap for its price.

Upon checking the reviews on Amazon, some people are not satisfied by the small size of this case. Big GPUs like ASUS Strix do not fit in the casing.

Therefore, you will need to look ahead first. Moreover, you will have to plan everything before making your purchase on this.

If your GPU or other parts do not fit in the chassis, check the warranty before making any modifications.

  • Dimensions: 15.5 x 9.0 x 14.2-inches
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX
  • Fans: 1x 240mm Top, 2x 120mm Front, 1x 80mm Rear
  • Water Cooling: 1x 360mm Top & Front, 120/ 140mm Rear
  • Material: Alloy Steel
  • Weight: 8.6lbs
  • Side Panel: Acrylic Glass

Why We Recommend

  • Less Expensive
  • 120mm Blue LED Fan Included
  • Dust filters To Keep It Clean
  • Clean Cable Management
  • Solid Design
  • Multiple Expansion Slots
  • Supports Every Type Of ATX Motherboards

Why We Don’t

  • Tight Motherboard Tray
  • Tight For Full Sized Components

6- SilverStone Grandia GD09 – For Compact ATX Builds

Unique Design & Robust Build

SilverStone-Grandia-GD09 Compact Case

The Silverstone GD09 is an ATX form factor computer case. It has a minimalistic and simple design, making it ideal for placing on a shelf or A/V cabinet.

Silverstone featured a unique design case GD09B for a compact ATX build for office use. The best thing about this casing is that it is made up of aluminum material, which is durable.

The compact design of GD09 offers some attractive advantages when you have a small space to fit in. The motherboard supports ATX standard and micro ATX. It has a dimension of 22 x 11 x 18-inches by LxWxH. Still, it provides eight slots for expansion cards.

Speaking of expansion cards, you can install graphics cards up to 12.2-inches in length. This system is not for tower builds but a desktop setup. It takes up a small space on your desk.

Moreover, the GD098 is exceptionally lightweight, weighing around 9.26lbs.

Even in small size, the SilverStone has done an extraordinary job in space efficiency. You can fit an ATX PSU, motherboard, optic driver, hard disk, SSD, and up to two high-end graphics cards.

The GD09 is efficient in terms of space optimization, you can install it in a horizontal way. The cables are also easy to manage. However, you cannot make a powerful rig or rendering setup on it. It is best for normal web browsing, word processing, data handling, or other office use.

You can install two 80mm fans on the rear with two 120mm fans, one on the top and two on the front. A single pre-installed fan of 120mm is provided with the casing. As for the ventilation, accessible dust filters are provided. So, the airflow is not an issue here.

As for the power supply, you can install either 220mm or 150mm. However, my only concern with this casing is that there is minimal space for the cooler. You may face some heating issues in a warm environment.

SilverStone is one of the renowned case manufacturers for computer components, especially cases. You can find top-notch quality cases for ATX, Extended ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX, Mini Stx/ NUC / PI.

Should You Buy It?

Yes, if you are looking for compact ATX builds for typical office use. The Silverstone GD09 can support ATX with a lot of hardware, but it is still not enough for gaming or rendering. So, it is an ideal choice for ordinary web browsers and Microsoft Excel users. It is definitely the smallest case for ATX build.

User Experience

The unique and compact desktop design of Grandia GD09 allows you to build a small ATX machine.

It can easily house standard ATX PSU, most GPUs, and an ATX motherboard. But it can’t support big coolers.

On Amazon, some reviewers have stated some severe issues regarding HDD. It is not easy to swap your SSD.

You have to disassemble almost the whole setup to remove or install the SSD.

  • Dimensions: 22” x 11” x 18”
  • Mobo support: Micro-ATX & ATX
  • Fans: 2x 80mm (rear), 2x 120mm (front), 1x 120mm (top)
  • Material: Aluminium
  • Expansion Slots: 8
  • Weight: 9.36lbs

Why We Recommend

  • Compact In Size
  • Support ATX boards
  • Supports most graphics cards
  • Great Price Point
  • Solid Steel Construction
  • Has 2 USB 3.0 front ports.
  • Can fit standard ATX power supply

7- Corsair Carbide 400C – High Performance

Mid-Tower & Excellent Airflow

Corsair Performance Case Carbide 400C

Like other corsair cases, it is also known as one of the premium cases at a very affordable price. It looks like the Corsair Carbide 600C but smaller in size.

The Corsair Carbide 400C features a premium build quality with alloy steel material. The style, and performance of this casing is exceptional at a meagre price. Therefore, this casing is pretty sturdy.

The casing has a smooth matte black finish on the exterior with a windows side panel for more aesthetics. And, the best thing to note here is that the side panel does not require any tool to open.

The 3.5 Inches drive slots can be found on the bottom front of the case. The space optimization is done quite efficiently. It is somewhat easy to manage the cables in this chassis. Moreover, the PCI-e space is appropriately positioned for better GPU cable management.

This casing features an inverse motherboard installation configuration. Speaking of the motherboard, it can support ATX and mini ITX form factors mobos. Moreover, seven expansion slots can allow you to build a multi-GPU setup.

Corsair claims that an up to 180mm power supply unit is supported in this case. It is true but requires the 3.5” drive slot to be removed. It is acceptable for some users since there are three more 2.5 Inches SSD bays on the rear of the motherboard tray.

The spring installation mechanism enables you to mount or dismount the SSDs quickly.

As for the airflow, you can install either two 140mm or three 120mm fans on the front and a single 120mm fan on the rear. Thus, this casing is best suited for a Balanced Air Airflow configuration. It is optimal for ventilation, dust filtration, and airflow. You can find more in our PC Airflow Guide.

And, if you are wondering, you can also go with the radiator approach. The Corsair Carbide 400C can support up to 360mm of radiator size on the front panel. Meanwhile, 240mm on the top and 120mm on the rear. However, it may congest some space inside the casing.

The magnetic easy to clean dust filters on top and slide air filters on the front and bottom will keep it clean.

The only flaw I face in this model is the plastic-made PSU cover, which is fragile and sensitive. Handle it with care.

The I/O section can be found on the top-front of the container. It features two USB 3.0, a power button, and two 3.5mm audio ports.

Now, let’s quickly talk about the clearance. Under normal circumstances, the case can support a 170mm CPU heatsink, 180mm PSU, and 370mm GPU.

Should You Buy It?

This casing is optimal for you if you look for a high-performance compact container for under $100. The high-performance consists of excellent airflow, magnetic dust filters, and multi-GPU support.

User Experience:

Simple, compact, and classy are the main traits of the Corsair Carbide 400C. It can support long GPUs and still have enough space for water cooling. My only concern with this chassis is space management.

Even though it is well designed, the space management could have been optimized more. Moreover, the PSU cover is made of plastic material. Durability issues can arise.

But, some users have reported that cables (to connect drives and front panels) are of poor quality.

On the bright side, this compact casing can house up to an E-ATX motherboard and 360mm radiator.

8- NZXT H510 – For Fast Building

RGB build with USB 3.1 & I Gen 2 Type-C

NZXT-H510

NZXT H510 is an excellent case for an accessible building with a price tag of $170. With excellent airflow performance, glass, RGB fans, and lightning with outstanding connectivity options. All of this is available at a budget price.

Like Corsair Carbide 400C, it features a rare inverse ATX case layout, which advances. It is a mid-tower gaming case with a smooth finish on the exterior. Moreover, the SGCC steel material used for the build ensures excellent durability.

Apart from that, it features glass side panels, which are easy to remove. The one-sided glass panel is positioned to showcase your build if done correctly.

The cable management is relatively easy in this case, as compared to the Carbide 400C. Some extra sections are provided for a more optimal cable flow.

The NZXT H510 supports Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, and ATX form factor motherboards. So that you can build a decent gaming PC on it.

You can find two SSD bays in the middle with two hard drive trays at the bottom on removing the back panel. However, these drive slots cannot be removed from the case, which is a bit of a turnoff, in my opinion.

The main selling point for this casing is the I/O panel. This minimalistic panel of cases features a TRRS 3.5mm audio port with a Gen 2 USB 3.1 Type-C port and one USB 3.1 Gen-1 Type-A port. As for the rear I/O panel, you get seven expansion slots and a PSU tray at the bottom.

The airflow configuration is also optimal. You can install either two 140mm or 120mm fans on the front. Just remove the screws, and the front fan panel will come out for easy installation. You can also install a 140/ 120mm fan on the top and a 120mm fan on the rear for the exhaust. The case does come with two pre-installed 120mm fans by default.

As for the dust filters, all the intake sections are adequately guarded.

You can also install a 280mm radiator size on the front and 120mm on the rear. But, it is recommended to go with the fans. The area for PSU is also optimal; you can install up to a 180mm PSU unit.

The NZXT H510 series features two other casings, NZXT H510 Elite and NZXT H510i. The only difference is with the builds and prices, the design and size remain the same.

Should You Buy It?

The NZXT H510 is a stylish yet simple case with USB 3.1 (both Type-C and Type-A) under a budget-friendly price range. So, it is definitely an excellent pick.

User Experience

Upon checking the reviews, we have found that people are having issues with build quality.

The build quality is not the best, and there is not much space for front fans for a proper intake.

Also, you have to remove the whole cage to install 5.25-inch drives, which is bothering many people.

On the other hand, the NZXT H510 is a casing with many features as well. It provides USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Type-C, which adds more points to the product.

Cable management is also relatively easy. You can easily transform this stylish yet simple case into a good-looking setup. This can be done with the help of the RGB strips, and the fans provided with the case.

  • Dimensions: 460mm x 210mm x 428mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX
  • Fans: 2x 140/ 120mm (front), 1x 140/ 120mm (top), 1x 120mm (back)
  • Radiator: 280mm (front), 120mm (back)
  • Weight: 14.55lbs or 6.6kg
  • Drive Bays” 2x 2.5”, 2x 3.5” Bays
  • Material: SGCC steel
  • GPU limit: 381mm
  • CPU Cooler Limit: 165mm

9- CORSAIR Crystal 460X RGB Classic Design

Classic Design & RGB Build

Classic Design & RGB Build

The Crystal 460X is the second Corsair casing on the list. They are known for premium cases at a very affordable price. The built-in RGB fans are giving users an option for some great builds. This case is one of the compact and best-looking cases on this list.

The casing is covered with black-themed glass. The side panels can be removed quite easily to access the interior. The material used for the manufacture is steel.

460x comes in one of the good-looking RGB computer cases.

However, achieving that beautiful look can get tricky for beginners. The cable management does require some work. Moreover, the assemble and disassemble process is not an easy task as well.

Talking about the interior, it is crucial to note several fan configuration options. You can install either three 120mm fans (pre-installed) on the front or two 240mm fans. While on the rear, there is space for only a single 120mm fan. However, you can also put two 140/ 120mm fans on the top.

The Corsair Crystal 460X is equipped with magnetic air filters on both top and front panels. These air filters are easily accessible.

The casing does the motherboard support ATX, and Micro-ATX boards, mini-ITX form factor motherboards. The 440mm x 220mm x 464mm dimensions allow you to build a decent compact gaming system. It supports CPU coolers up to 170mm unless you install a big radiator size up to 360 on the top.

You can install two 3.5 Inches hard drives and three 2.5 Inches SSDs at the bottom section. Other than that you can also install a 200mm power supply unit there. As for the compatibility, there are seven slots for the expansion cards. And, you can install up to 370mm long graphics cards.

The front I/O can be found in the top area. It consists of four USB ports (2x USB 3.0 audio and 2x USB 2.0), two audio ports, a power button, and three RGB control buttons.

Based on my personal experience, I found the space behind the motherboard tray a little small. It may work with your requirements.

Should You Buy It?

If you are looking for a decent casing with an RGB build in a compact way, then Corsair Crystal 460X is a good pick. This casing has a glass front and sides with an RGB control button on the front I/O.

User Experience

Corsair Crystal 460X has a few cons regarding interior that concern many people.

The inside space is poorly optimized. The less space behind the motherboard tray can have some installing issues.

Managing your cables is a challenging task as well. Moreover, upgrading your hardware can also be a little tricky due to its poor design.

On the bright side, the premium tempered glass with three RGB fans (default) can make your setup look good.

You can also hook up to a 170mm CPU cooler and a 360mm radiator.

  • Dimensions: 440mm x 220mm x 464mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX
  • Fans: 3x 120mm or 2x 240mm (front), 1x 120mm (rear), 2x 140/ 120mm (top)
  • Weight: 7.97kg
  • Expansion slots: 7
  • Drives: 3x 2.5”, 2x 2.5”
  • CPU Cooler Limit: 170mm
  • GPU Limit: 370mm
  • PSU Limit: 200mm

Why We Recommend

  • Premium Tempered Glass
  • 3x RGB Fans
  • Worth Buying
  • Support Coolersup to 170 mm in height
  • Support 360 mm radiator setup

Why We Don’t

  • Less Space Behind Motherboard Tray
  • Tricky Cable management
  • Can’t use 3.5” drive bays with large PSU
  • Fingerprint magnet

10- Thermaltake Core G3Slim ATX Case

Slim, Compact, & Decent ATX Case

slim atx case

Thermaltake Core G3 is one of the slim cases and a perfect option for standard ATX boards. The best thing is that you can hide it under your tv or any other place .You will get almost everything in it.

The Core G3 casing is made up of SPCC material with enough durability to last long. And, the black color enables you to create any themed setup.

It is not the best looking, and it could have looked better with more exterior work. But still, you can make a decent RGB gaming build with this chassis. Moreover, one side of the case is transparent glass. The glass side is easily accessible allowing you to work more from the look’s perspective.

The Thermaltake’s Core G3 is a mini-tower casing with dimensions of 14.6” x 5.5” x 17.9”. This makes it a top-tier among the small form factor cases. The only limitation with this case is that it supports only SFX and SFX-L power supplies as of the slim PSU section.

This PC case has a great motherboard that supports ATX, micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX.

The most fascinating aspect of the Core G3 for me is that it may be laid flat. Simply remove the bottom PC legs and attach them to the case’s sides. As a result, it met our small ATX cases criteria.

It features an inverse layout, technically. However, you can only install your GPU vertically due to the slim design. And, don’t worry, the PCI-e vertical extension is provided with the PC case.

If you’re a beginner then cable management can be a challenge due to less working space. But you can manage them if you get a little productive.

The front panel is easy to remove. Upon removing, you can access your two 120mm fan mounts and hard drive slots. The good thing about the slots is that you can quickly mount or dismount the drives.

Two 120mm fans are included with the package, making it more cost-efficient. You can install the 3rd fan on the front, but the hard drive cages cover the area. There is another mount for a 120mm fan at the top for the exhaust. Or, you can also install a 240mm radiator on the front.

As for the front, I/O has two USB 3.0 audio ports with two USB 2.0 ports and a single TRRS 3.5mm audio port.

The PSU and CPU cooler clearance is limited compared to the other compact cases on the list. You can only install a 110m CPU cooler and 130mm (SFX or SFX-L) power supply unit. As for the GPU, it has space for a 310mm card with a top-front fan.

This case is one of the best portable computer cases with the most miniature CPU cabinet on this list. You can build the best slim computer beast with this most portable PC case.

Should You Buy It?

If you are looking for a highly slim casing for your slim ATX build, Thermaltake Core G3 is your best bet. Thermaltake has done a tremendous job in terms of space efficiency and optimization.

User Experience:

The Thermaltake Core G3 provides an excellent price to performance ratio. It is filled with dust filters so that your setup can remain clean for an extended period.

Unlike Crystal 460X, the side panels of this case make it easy for you to access the internal hardware.

But as per the Amazon reviews, this casing provides very little ease for cable management.

Moreover, the build quality is a little bit of a problem here as well. A small bump can cause a dent in the case.

  • Dimensions: 14.6” x 5.5” x 17.9”
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX
  • Fans: 2x 120mm (front), 1x 120mm (top)
  • Radiators: 1x 240mm (front)
  • Material: SPCC
  • Weight: 4.2kg or 9.3lbs
  • CPU Cooler Limit: 110mm
  • GPU Limit: 310mm
  • PSU Limit: 130mm

Why We Recommend

  • Best In Price
  • Support ATX
  • Easy To Access With Side Panels
  • SFX Power Supply To Reduce Size Of Case
  • Many Dust Filtration
  • Rubber Feet

Why We Don’t

  • Less Space
  • Bad Cable Management
  • Large Graphic Card Required Support to Hold It In Position

11- Cooler Master Mastercase SL600M – 2019 Red Dot Award Winner

Smart I/O panel with Efficient Cooling System

Award Winning Premium Cooler Master Mastercase SL600M Case

Cooler Master Mastercase SL600M is one of the simplest and best quality cases on this list. If you are out there for some best simple cases, I am sure that the Coolermaster Mastercase SL600M is one for you.

The casing is made up of aluminum and steel material so that extreme durability can be expected. It is available in two colors, black, and silver, which are both excellent designs.

The casing dimensions are 544mm x 242mm x 573mm, which is among the compact ATX cases. Still, it is good enough to support mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, and E-ATX. However, installing E-ATX limits you with fan adjustments and cable management.

An interesting thing about the Cooler Master Mastercase SL600M is the airflow configuration. The SL600M has adapted a unique layout with air flowing from the bottom to the upwards direction.

You can mount either three 120mm fans on the top or two 140/200mm fans. Please note that these top fans should be for exhaust. As for the intake, you can install three 120mm fans or two 140/200mm fans at the bottom.

Moreover, you don’t have to worry about bottom intakes. Because there is plenty of breathing room at the bottom. You also get two 200mm fans with a speed of 400 to 800 RPM with the package.

The front panel is blocked off and not removable. It allows the Cooler Master to achieve the noise-reduction design case. As for the top panel, it can be removed for a better airflow exhaust. Though this fan configuration is unique, it limits you from other airflow configurations.

Both bottom and top fan mounts can be removed. However, the base support is a bit large. But, you will receive a manual with proper instructions.

It can support up to 360mm water coolers and radiators to cool down PC components. The bottom dust filter is removable, which you can clean easily.

The only thing that concerns me about this casing is that the PSU is installed on the front section. So you must place a cable at the rear for the power.

There are seven slots for expansion cards. Also, two more extensions for vertical GPU configuration.

The drive bays can also be found in the front section of the casing with four slots for SSDs and 3.5 Inches drives. Moreover, great cable management options in this casing.

Should You Buy It?

The SL600M is for you if you want a unique & small PC case with large fan support, noise-reduction, and pro features.
FYI this case won the 2019 Red Dot Award for thermal performance and design; why not? It is one of the most astonishing PC cases.

User Experience

The Cooler Master Mastercase SL600M comes with many great features. The efficient design provides an excellent cooling system.

There are a lot of features offered by this case apart from being a lightweight and Smart I/O panel. It also gives Noise Reduction Technology to reduce the sounds coming from the inside of the case.

However, this casing tends to get hot even if the hardware inside is cool. Moreover, the proximity sensor is a bit too sensitive, which troubles many users.

And, the only major con of this case is that it is a little expensive.

  • Dimensions: 544mm x 242mm 573mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, E-ATX
  • Expansion slots: 7+2
  • Fans: 3x 120mm or 2x 140/ 200mm (top), 3x 120mm or 2x 140/ 200mm (bottom)
  • Material: Aluminum, Steel, & Glass.
  • Radiator Support: upto 360mm (top & bottom)
  • CPU Cooler Limit: 191mm

  • Efficient Cooling System.
  • Noise Reduction Technology
  • Space For Additional Advanced Cooling Technology.
  • Smart I/O Panel Light Up In The Dark.
  • The Overall Architecture Is Organized And Flexible. Type C Also Included
  • Lightweight

Why We Don’t

  • Cannot Accommodate Larger Hardware Or Cooling Solutions.
  • Case Gets Hot Even The Hardware Is Cooler
  • Proximity Sensor A Bit Sensitive
  • Bit Expensive

12- Cooler Master Masterbox 3.1 TG Budget Option

Excellent Design in Cost-Friendly Price

Cooler Master Masterbox 3.1 TG Budget Small Case

The PC market is well-known for Cooler Master, a well-known computer hardware brand. It releases an excellent ATX case on a regular basis.

We have already mentioned its model above, yet more to come. Let’s explore one of the best cases of the Cooler Master known as MasterBox 3.1 TG with a great look.

The dark mirror finish on the case provides extra aesthetics on the looks. Speaking of mirrors, the front and side are 4mm thick tempered glass. At the same time, the main body is made up of plastic and steel material.

The dimensions of the casing are 8.23” x 15” x 17.95” by WxHxD. It weighs around 4.1kg, making it easy to move around.

It supports motherboards of Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX form factors. You can install an ATX with some compromises on cable management and space.

Furthermore, cable management is an easy task with this casing. The hard drive bays are located at the bottom front. And, due to the slim design, it supports only two 3.5 Inches drives along with a 2.5-inch drive. As for the expansion slots, it has only four.

Now let us talk about the fans. The fans configuration of this casing is pretty basic. You can mount two 120mm fans on the front and a single fan at the rear. You can also install a 240mm radiator on the front with a Mini-ITX or Micro-ATX motherboard.

The dust filters are provided for both the front and bottom sections.

The front I/O panel has a USB 2.0, USB Type-A (USB 3.1 or USB 3.2 Gen 1), and two 3.5mm audio ports.

The best thing about this casing is that it supports GPUs upto 380mm in length or 14.9-inches.

However, I like to add that the side panels are finger magnets, so you have to be careful not to touch them.

The overall look is perfect, and it will make it more flawless with 3x colors trim for more customization. Also, you can 3d print trims in your favorite white color for a white build. So, avail the performance, customization, and great look of this model.

Should You Buy It?

This casing supports large GPUs with excellent interior space optimizations. There are a few flaws in this casing, but it satisfies the price quite well. Moreover, it will save you some money on other PC components like graphics cards and CPUs.

User Experience:

The Cooler Master Masterbox 3.1 TG is a good pick when it comes to budget PC cases.

It comes with tempered glass sides, four fans (1x RGB), and water cooling support at this price range.

But, there are some cons to this case, which is natural at its price range. It provides only one SSD tray.

Moreover, there are small gaps between the side panels and the case, which can intake dust over time. And, you cannot install fans on the top side of the case.

  • Dimensions: 209mm x 381mm x 456mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX
  • Expansion slots: 4
  • Fans: 2x 120mm (front), 1x 120mm (rear)

Why We Recommend

  • Tempered Glass Side
  • 4 Fans Included With One RGB
  • Support Water Cooling
  • 3x Trim With Different Colours
  • Best Case In Price

Why We Don’t

  • One SSD tray included,
  • The Tempered glass just feels wrong, No top fan options
  • Only One SSD Mounting Tray

13- Cooler Master MasterCase H500P – Affordable Case For ATX

High Airflow Design & Excellent Design

Cheap Cooler Master MasterCase H500P

Cooler Master is a famous brand for quality PC products within an affordable price range. There is a wide range of ATX computer cases with good quality control and design. One of their best-selling products is Cooler Master MasterCase H500P.

The dimensions are 511mm x 242mm x 542mm by LxWxH. The interesting thing is, MasterCase H500P supports up to E-ATX, just like the SL600M.

As for the fans, you can install either three 140/ 120mm fans or two 200mm fans on the front. This case provides two 200mm RGB fans with the case, making it super cost-efficient. The top panel also supports the same number of fans of exact sizes. As for the rear, you can mount only a single 120/140mm fan.

It is a liquid cooling-ready casing. You can install up to a 360mm radiator on top and front with a 140mm on the rear. The mesh covering of the front panel ensures maximum airflow. A fine layer of dust filters protects the motherboard from dust particles.

So, this casing is excellent in terms of airflow. You can build an overclocking gaming system, even when it is a compact case.

The interior of the casing is somewhat optimized. You can manage the cables with a little bit of extra time.

There are, of course, seven expansion card slots on the rear with two extra vertical slots. Furthermore, the front I/O panel can be found in the top section. Some folks talk about the front I/O panel being mesh, but it is not. Anyways, you can find two USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, and two 3.5mm audio ports in this I/O panel.

As for the drives, the MasterCase H500P supports two 3.5 Inches or 2.5 Inches drives on one cage. While the other cage is dedicated to SSDs and supports two 2.5 Inches drives.

Although it costs more than other ATX cases, the added features make it well worth the investment.

Should You Buy It?

Yes, if you want a small form-factor case with overclocking skills and the best design. This casing has seen some major changes from the previous version and is ideal for gamers.

User Experience

When it comes to design and style, Cooler Master has done a great job in their MasterCase H500P.

It supports two 200mm RGB fans on the front, which adds more aesthetics to the chassis. Also, the space inside the box is optimized very well.

However, what it provides in style lacks durability. The main exterior is made of robust material. But other interior products, like 3-way fan splitter and fans, are of inferior quality.

On the bright side, all the casings come with a warranty. And, since the Cooler Master is a vast company, they will surely help you out. Therefore, if you are not satisfied with the product, be sure to contact them.

  • Dimensions: 544mm x 242mm 542mm
  • Mobo Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, E-ATX
  • Expansion slots: 7+2

  • Radiator Support: upto 360mm (Front & top), 140mm (rear)
  • CPU Cooler Limit: 190mm
  • GPU Limit: 412mm

  • Good And Attention-Grabbing Design
  • Extra Space Inside
  • 200mm RGB Excellent Intake Fans

Why We Don’t

  • Less Mounting Brackets
  • Less Cable Manage,t Holes
  • Rear Cable Cover Is Shallow

14- Rosewill Cullinan PX Series Cube Case  – Mid Tower case

Durable & More Space

small cube atx case

The Rosewill PX Series Case can hold crucial significant components in its cube size. Recently Rosewill introduced the PX Series for gamers in search of compact cases.

The material used for the manufacture of the case is aluminum, steel, and tempered glass. The casing itself is quite robust and sturdy. The case’s dimensions are 14.96 x 9.84 x 14.57-inches and support ATX form factor motherboards.

Moreover, the tempered glass side panels provide a unique design for a gaming build.

It is a mid-tower cube case, so adjusting the hardware is not an issue here. The dual-chamber design enables excellent airflow and effective components installation. Therefore, managing the cables is also easy.

As for fans, you can mount two 120mm fans on both the top and front panels. While the rear panel only supports an 80mm fan. The Rosewill Cullinan does provide two 120mm and one 80mm RGB fan with the package.

The hard drives are installed on the secondary chamber along with the PSU. The case has two 3.5 Inches drive bays that support two drives. At the same time, there is space for three 2.5 Inches SSDs on the other bay.

Antec DP301M

Antec-DP301M

The first micro case model that we will discuss is from Antec. This case comes with satisfactory dimensions. It has a height of 402 mm, a width of 210, and a depth of 485 mm.

This ideal size allows you to mount heat sinks at a level of 160 mm or higher than them. This size is the most common one. Antec DP301M has also included a rear fan as a standard. The fan allows the installation of two 120 or 140 mm fans, which are located on its front side, and on its ceiling as well.

In Win A1

In-Win-A1-Plus1

Win A1 has exceeded its limits to produce some outstanding cases with unique case designs. The latest case, mini-tour A1 is a great example of some of the compact and elegant design cases. Moreover, it has a lot of advanced features.

The A1 case contains a pre-installed and pre-wired 600W power supply. It helps to eliminate several vital parts of creating a computer in a mini-tower case. This case provides power options for mini-tower installations with a powerful GPU.

Thermaltake Versa H17

Thermaltake-Versa-H17

It is a bit smaller case in size as compared to the previous Antec model. This is because it has the maximum heatsink height for the processor that gets reduced to 155 mm. The maximum length for its graphics card is 355 mm. No doubt, a huge variety of high-end graphics cards will fit in it.

This model provides enough space for two 3.5 Inches and 2.5 inches drives. Also, it comes with a pre-installed 120 mm fan on its rear side.

Corsair 275r Airflow

CORSAIR 275R Airflow Mid-Tower ATX Case

Corsair 275R Airflow provides a well-built and unique design. Along with several advanced airflow features at an adjustable price of $80. Corsair 275R supports distinct cooling features via the front panel. This makes it a perfect mid-tower case. It has a front panel that contains many slats so that the air can get inside through different angles. This way it can reach individually to every PC component in the case.

Corsair 275R offers an awesome build for radiators and fans. It supports 6 fans of 120 mm and 4 fans of 140 mm. You can choose from these as per your will.

Buying Guide : How To Select Small Case For Your Build

There are some things that need to be cleared whenever you buy a good case. These buying tips will help you to choose the perfect case for your powerful rigs and gaming build.

Case guide
Case Selecting Guide

Supported Format Of ATX Motherboard: What Are the Formats for ATX Motherboards?

  • Standard ATX: The most common format is the standard ATX which corresponds to medium and large towers. Moreover, it is the one that is most recommended. Indeed, this format gives the largest choice of motherboards, with possibilities for extension. It also features many settings of the Bios, especially for overclocking.
  • Micro-ATX Format: The micro-ATX format is quite used, it keeps ATX features in a smaller format (244X244 mm). And at a lower cost, with a PCI-Express x16 bus and PCI-Express x4 or x1 I/O ports and PCI. Although there is less choice of motherboards and fewer opportunities in the Bios. This is the recommended format for a compact box, mini-tower, or bare-bone.
  • Mini-ITX Format: The mini-ITX format is making a comeback, mainly for Home Theatre PCs. It is not really suitable for a PC “gamer”.

Build’s Components

If you already bought your PC parts and planning to buy a case, remember to check:

  • CPU cooler height
  • PSU size
  • Motherboard type

Consider checking these factors before buying a case. Otherwise, you will have to return your product if it is not compatible with your PC parts.

Case Build Quality

For a perfectly good-looking case, you can’t just ignore the case quality. If you’re doing so then consider it the biggest fault. Always check build quality before buying. All aluminum and steel cases are best with the best chassis for durability.

Expandability

If you are looking forward to a one-time purchase then check the expandability of the case. See if your ideal case has enough space to expand your system in the future or not. More PCI slots and drive bays will allow you to add some components to increase your PC performance.

Air Flow: How Do I Know If My PC Case Has Good Airflow?

Most of the cases have a weak airflow system in a case that may end up with heat-up issues. Remember to pick the case with the best airflow. Also, check if the case can support more fans and radiators for smooth gaming.

To avoid the risk of overheating and damage to the equipment, the housing must be well ventilated.

A gaming case must include at least 2 fans. There must be at least one fan at the back of the housing, its role is to evacuate the hot air to the outside. As well as an additional suction fan at the front allows to maximize the flow of air and to better cool the hard disks. This ensures good airflow in your PC.

Some enclosures are designed to eliminate ventilation noise as much as possible. This is the case for models whose panels are covered with an acoustic reduction coating.

Other information, the volumetry of the housing also influences its heat dissipation. (A large-format tower case will take longer to fill with hot air).

Dust Filters: Do I Need a Dust Filter?

The most ventilated and most powerful PCs swallow a large amount of air to cool the components. Yet, they suck a lot of dust particles, hair, and other dirt particles as well. Ultimately, these elements will reduce the effectiveness of gills and ventilation.

When the inside of the PC is clogged, the fans force and make even more noise. That’s why the presence of dust filters for removing and cleaning them is important for gaming PCs. And that’s the major reason why you need a dust filter for your PC.

Cable Management

Make sure that you choose the right case with cut-out spaces for cable management. With effective cable management, your case will look clean from the inside.
